A symbol of resilience, diversity and unity. These three rainbow serpents are intertwined and represent the three largest First Nations groups in the Macarthur region: Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Pacific Islander. The artwork responds to the shape of the wall, extending above, spilling onto the footpath and beyond the wall limits.
Within the artwork is a very fine line that is painted with gold, which pays homage to the artist's Chinese heritage and expresses value to the street, economy and people. The snake scales were inspired by the texture of the wall, and the snakes themselves also represent movement, such as the foot traffic of Queen Street and the etched arches.
At the heart, this work is an aspirational affirmation to the people of South West Sydney, a reminder that they can go anywhere and achieve anything.
