Garage Mural

Grant Franklin

Garage Mural by Grant Franklin | Street Art NSW

Every small town had its own garage with mechanic on duty, fuel pumps and oily rags – and Kurri Kurri was no exception. This was a time when spare parts had to be ordered from Newcastle or Sydney yet there was still time for conversation with customers, often with a cigarette still burning! Windscreens were washed as a part of the service when buying your fuel.

This mural was completed with support from the Samaritans Youth Service who work with youth and their families in the local area. The artwork was designed by Kelly White and painted with the assistance of Kurri Kurri High School students.
