This mural depicts workers from the turn of the 20th Century wearing uniforms and clothing of that era. Note around the neck of the miner is a length of detonator cord used to blast the coal from the seams. At the miner's feet is a crib tin for his packed lunch. All the workers shown are from various walks of life, from school teacher, professionals and tradesmen, including the boy who would have worked down the mines aged from as young as 12.
