The town of Kurri Kurri is surrounded by Australian bushland and is subject to the seasonal threat of bushfires. In early 2013 the artist captured with her paints and brushes the local firefighters creating a back burn to protect homes and property in Lang Street, East Kurri Kurri, in colours of startling reality.
This mural is dedicated not only to the brave fire fighters of the area, but also to Marcia's brother, John Clarence, OAM, a former Mayor of Cessnock City Council, who died before its completion in September 2013. He had been an inspiration to his family all his life and this tribute from Marcia is a lasting reminder of her love and respect for him.
