Blacksmiths Mural

Chris Fussell

Blacksmiths Mural by Chris Fussell | Street Art NSW

Mr Arnold Bailey was the local Blacksmith and Wheelwright since the town of Kurri Kurri began. He was also well known for his charitable, religious, educational and philanthropic work within the community.

He also has the unique honour of being the first Kurri Kurri business to place an advert in the Newcastle Morning Herald which appeared in the newspaper in 1902.

This site was chosen for the mural as it was close to the original site of the Blacksmiths. It was the first mural to be sponsored by a family with the late Mr Arnolds extended family who now reside throughout the state, all making a contribution.
