Local Legends

This mural was painted in the style of posters that often appeared in hotels around the 1950s. The subjects were chosen by the patrons of the hotel and members of the Kurri Kurri Rugby League Club. Many names were put forward but eventually it was decided that the figure in the middle would be Viv Madge, on his left is Jeff Roach and on his right is Phil Williams, all still living locally when the mural was painted. The Cessnock player is the late Don Schofield.
