Schoolyard Mural by Jennifer Lockhart | Street Art NSW

Kurri Kurri Public School was opened in 1904, and this mural was commissioned to celebrate its first Centenary in October 2004. The first pupils were from the small population of miners and related industry workers, but there are now nearly 1000 students. From a single classroom to its present day range of buildings, playing fields and lawns, it has witnessed the growth of a mining village into a diverse bustling town.

Two of the children shown here outside the original school building bear a resemblance to the children of the proprietors of this shop.
