Part of the City of Parramatta's arts program, this colourful arrangement of shining flowers is found at the centre of the Ermington Shops laneway along Club Lane. The artwork mixes the realism of several native flowers such as the waratah, flannel flower, wattle, and Geraldton wax, non-natives including the peony, chrysanthemum, lotus, and ylang-ylang, with white flowers and foliage that resemble paste-ups.
Australian native flora forms the foundation of this mural, interwoven with flowers from diverse countries, symbolising the rich cultural tapestry that defines Parramatta. Together, they create a botanical narrative that reflects the makeup of the city: those who have always been here, those whose roots span generations, and those who have recently arrived — all coexisting in a vibrant bouquet where each element enhances the beauty of the others, illuminating the roots we all share. This piece sings with colour, movement and texture: black and white “paste-ups” referencing old school street art style, mixed with colour-popping painterly buds and blooms.
