This work is inspired by the middens that were once ever present in the Newcastle region. The area of the artwork would've once had a lot of sand dunes, and within those were middens, which were important as indicators of where people were living and eating and share space and food together, including the Awabakal and Worimi peoples. The artwork features several middens superimposed on layered representations of the land, with the middle section representing water.
